T2 lottery was cool. It provided a fair chance to anyone get lucky. Now it's just stupid grind with invention jobs and a lot of envy towards the T2 BPO owners. I never won anything in Eve and I don't care about game balance or pathetic arguments about fairness and/or hard work. It's game and I play for fun, not for work. Lottery was fun and I wish CCP reconsider there plans of killing it. ========================================== |

Originally by: Alski 'A' lottery of some kind where we actuley have to sink isk into it, but the BPO lottery was allways a bad way of handleing the T2 market, and if it were reintroduced and reseeded regulerley it could possabley threatern invention profits, while i wouldent *personaley* care about that (don't do invention, do buy a lot of T2) it could be bad for lots of people and generaley bad for eve.
BPO lottery was only bad for those who never won it, otherwise it was pretty good. And now, when it's counter measured by invention, it should start again. Perhaps with much reduce BPO pool.

Well in that case you're just an ***hole. EVE already has plenty, can I have your stuff?
Yeah, that's the fact. But at least I am honest an***hole. ========================================== |

Another interesting point.
How often have you see statements such "All T2 BPOS will turn to high run BPCS very soon" on this forums? Well, they pretty regular and almost always from unspecified Alts.
I guess someone running a serious campaign to drop T2 BPO prices. But what interests me here, if it's someone with insider information, who knows for sure that nothing will happens with T2 BPO's and Oveur jokes about "dead lottery".

Artificial control of pricing and production on what is supposed to be a free market.
BPOs are more efficient than invention, the owner can charge the same price as inventors and makes considerably higher profits. It is permission to print ISK, you might as well automatically deliver XX units of Mexallon into their cargo hold every day.
There was nothing artificial about pricing and production when T2 prints were distributed from the lottery. Everyone had a chance to win, and everyone had a chance to buy from the winners. Naturally, most prints end up in the hands of richest. It's called capitalism.

So, my question for you is: How exactly is the T2 lottery fixed by invention?
Invention broke monopoly of CCP over T2 BPO distrubution. Now anyone can start it's own, small lottery by trying to transform T1 BPC to T2 BPC.

But as I pointed out, invention in its current form is simply an impossible venture to undertake successfully without a huge beginning bank role (consistently).
Of course. But this standard pre-nerfed tactics by CCP. It will get better. And besides, if it's so "an impossible venture", why so many bother with it?

And you do realize that invention gives you a T2 BPC, not a BPO, correct?
Yes
Originally by: Nicho Void
So you have the lotto that gives away T2 BPOs for free, versus invention which costs loads of money and only gives you a 1 run BPC in the case of ships. Yes, invention certainly would break up that evil CCP T2 distribution monopoly.
No. You will have low chance lottery that gives away T2 BPO to few for the cost of their RP's ( NOT free) and you have high chance lottery that gives away T2 BPC to many for the considerable effort.
(And please note, that tweaking invention is completly different story and topic. )

Originally by: Nicho Void Again, I don't want the lotto. I want invention to be a more feasible undertaking for the newer and poorer players of Eve.
But invention is the lotto. Granted, pretty high chance, but still - lottery. ========================================== |

Originally by: Deva Blackfire Then lets say... "dream on". You can always hope that in year 2040 CCP will re-introduce lottery :) And as im lazy i prefer to run inventions (10-15 minutes per day is enough).
You seems kind of gamer who runs multiple accounts, use alts, farm plexes and grind for isk. Invention, for you, simply another grinding tool to make more isk, to pay for more accounts and to feel powerful and elite.
I play because Eve is fun. ( And I truly believe that I am not alone here). Lottery is fun. Grinding is not. It's fun to have a chance of winning a jackpot and it is not fun to sit at the station and play with calculator.

No it's not! Invention requires investment capital, skills, station slots, and on and on. It has a fixed chance of success. How is that a lottery?
T2 BPO lottery requires investment capital ( to buy skills), time investment ( to grind for stansings), skills ( science ansd social skills training). It has a low chance of success. Everyone call it lottery.
Invention requires same as above plus extra ( interfaces, slots rental). It has high chance of success. Everyone call it invention.
But the difference between both ( as Olivin very well put) is the same as difference between scratch tickets and national lottery.
